CREATING ARTWORK: TECHNICAL DATA

As the RGB colour space is much larger and contains more colours than the CMYK colour space, the colour space of documents created in RGB must be reduced in order to be able to reproduce them for printing. Colour reduction can lead to colour changes during conversion, for which we cannot accept any liability. Therefore, when creating the data, you should always ensure that you work within the CMYK mode or generate the print file in CMYK.
In principle, you can prepare your file in all common graphics programmes such as QuarkXPress, InDesign, Illustrator or CorelDraw. Please create then a PDF from it.
Differences of up to 2 mm may occur when cutting. We recommend a distance of at least 3 mm from the edge of the format so that they do not ‘stick’ to the edge of the paper despite the cutting tolerance.
Images should have a resolution at least 300 dpi in the final format. If the resolution is too low, a sawtooth effect will otherwise occur. If the print data is supplied 1:1, there are no further data processing costs.
Please provide your documents in formats as TIFF, EPS or JPEG only. All other formats are not suitable.
Fonts must always be ‘embedded’ in your PDF, i.e. the font information must also be transferred to the document. Alternatively, you can also convert the fonts into curves or paths in some programmes. This means that font information is no longer required in the PDF.
When creating your documents, please use a minimum line thickness of 0.12 mm positive and 0.17 mm negative for DIGITAL PRINTING. For pad printing, the minimum font size is 6 pt and the minimum line width is 0.75 pt. The LMIV (Food Information Regulation) specifies a minimum font size with an x-height of 1.2 mm. If the largest surface area of the packaging is smaller than 80 cm2, the font size may be 0.9 mm. The x-height is the size of the letter x.

Only use professional programmes to create your PDF print data, as this will give you the best print results. This can be a PDF creation programme such as Adobe Acrobat Distiller or layout programmes such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator or QuarkXPress. We also print with RGB data, but we have to reduce the colour space to CMYK, which can lead to colour changes.

WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR DATA

resolution, colours, font embedding, document size
